I really should have called this the Gluten Free Bisquick food series. I have had so much success with this one pantry item, that I have to share how I make these easy gluten free donut holes.
Recently, it was Grandparents day at my son’s school and traditionally they have always served donut holes. I really wanted him to have what all the other kids were having, and feel special like them.
I have made donuts before, but I had never attempted donut holes. This was so easy and my son literally ate a whole bowl of them.
It’s not just the same product, it’s the same batter
The best part of making these is that all you need to do is mix the biscuit batter I told you about in my last post. You can read the details here. Remember to use my substitutions for same results rather than the recipe that comes on the box.
I fried these in my cool daddy fryer, a staple cooking tool in my kitchen, for about 6 minutes or until golden. You can also put about 2 inches of canola oil in a pot and fry them on your stovetop. With either method you use, make sure to gently turn them over to fry them evenly.
I also used a mini ice cream scooper to scoop my batter so that each one was the same size.
Place a paper towel on a plate to put the fried donut holes on to eliminate excess oil. Then place them in a bowl of cinnamon sugar and enjoy!
I usually use 2 parts sugar to 1 part cinnamon when I mix cinnamon sugar and it is simply perfection. The next time I make these I think I will glaze them. I will share the details of my glaze when I do.
This was so quick and easy and really put a smile on my son’s face. Another win for mom.
