Gluten Free Brisket Soup is one of my favorite weekly meals especially this time of year. This recipe came about from a fun little talk with the butcher at Whole Foods. Once of my favorite things to do when I go grocery shopping is to get to know the people in all the departments. This is partly because I am always asking them about products that I would love to see in their stores to make my shopping much easier. They are such a wealth of information and it’s so fun to think of things that will taste good together. The aroma that fills the house while this meal is cooking is so amazing. And on a cool day, there is nothing better than warming yourself up to this soup.
This meal is so easy that it only takes about 10-15 minutes to put together
I have made this meal for years. Traditionally on brisket nights we eat dinner and have family game night. Using my crockpot means that I am not completely exhausted from cooking dinner and I have some energy to enjoy some quality family time while we eat. There are so many reasons why we all enjoy this dinner time.
I have made this soup with brisket and chuck roast. I prefer the grass fed brisket because it is a leaner cut of meat and I am not paying for all the fat. There have been times that the brisket is unavailable so I have had to resort to chuck roast. They both peel apart very well when cooked.
What you need to make this meal
For our family of 4 I buy 2 pounds of grass fed brisket, one onion, and one bundle of celery.
Once it’s cooked I place the brisket and celery (you can also add the onion, but my family does not prefer it) on a plate and trim the remaining fat off the meat.
In a bowl I add the rice cut up meat and celery.
Then I add the broth to form a soup.
This meal is also very versatile. In my family, we all eat it in very different ways. I love to make the soup. I use my instapot pressure cooker to cook the rice to perfection. My husband shreds brisket on a dish and mixes it with rice with no broth. And since soup is sometimes a hard sell for the littles, they eat their beef cut up and topped with some dairy free Daiya cheese and a side of rice.
Everyone is fed and happy
So the next time you are looking for a warm and cozy meal, I highly recommend this gluten free brisket soup. Eat it my way, the broth is simply amazing.
