Over the past week I have heard so many people tell me that they’ve given up baking since they became gluten free. I know what those feelings are like. It can really be exhausting. Especially when you aren’t having any luck with recipes.
It was a little different for me. When we discovered my kid’s gluten intolerance, we also discovered their food allergies. Even though both my kids fall into this category, it was my oldest son that opened my eyes to all of this.
When I became gluten free, it didn’t matter to me if I had baked goods because I prefer savory treats and chocolate. I have never been a huge cupcake, donut and cookie fan. So I had never really needed or found a love for baking.
But with kids, it’s a whole different ballgame. Having those special baked goods around the house is necessary, it is a part of growing up and….it is what all of their friends are eating.
So I dedicated my time learning how to bake gluten free.
Three years ago, I had thought of an idea to better help my Stay Gluten Free Community (it’s FREE to join, click here). I remembered that years ago I had been invited to a cookie exchange party and I although I loved the idea, I couldn’t eat anyone else’s cookies. I still took the cookies though and I ended up gifting them to others throughout the holiday season.
This is when I came up with the idea of the “Virtual Gluten Free Cookie Recipe Exchange”. Long title, I know. But it says exactly what it is! I created an event where we collectively join together one weekend in December via Facebook, at your own time and place, and share our favorite “tried and true” recipes.
I say “tried and true” because this helps us to eliminate the trial and error of baking during the holidays. Thus, giving us more time to spend with our families and delicious cookies to eat with them.
So are you in? Last year I even added a grand prize winner. It was SO fun!
To get the details all I ask is that you are a member of my Stay Gluten Free Community here. In it you will find a link in the announcements to sign up. It’s all absolutely FREE and created to help and support you!
Just think, you are one gluten free cookie recipe away from reclaiming your holidays! And I personally am excited to give you back the confidence you need to enjoy baking again. Join us!
